SSI (server-side include) means that a file is included inside another the web page before it is sent to from the server. This (and some clever programming) enables us to use one file as a template and insert each 'webpage' into it before sending it out.

The following example illustrates this by showing the original file before it has been processed and the file after the SSIs have been done.
