From the cPanel main menu, click on the Web/FTP Stats icon. This will take you to the Web/FTP Stats menu.
You have a number of options of how you want to display your stats. We are interested in the webstats, not the FTP stats.
The best option is Webalizer (not webalizer Ftp). Webalizer gives you a graphic and textual representation of the numbers of people that came to your site. Click on the second option - Webalizer.
Webalizer
The first page displays a summary by month. Your stats are broken down by month, to access more detail, click on a month.
The 'Month view' has many sections showing different statistics which are all fairly self explanitory. there is more information available on the webalizer website. Please see this page for an explanation of what hits & views are.
Further down the 'month view' page, it also shows a daily statistics section for each day and a corresponding graph. This can be very useful to measure the effectiveness of an advert campaign.
Key statistics:
- Total Visits shows the total number of people that came to your site.
- Total Pages shows the total number of pages looked at.
(Total Pages / Total Visits shows average number of pages viewed by each visitor)
- Visits per Day and Pages per Day are the daily average equivalent
- The Top X of X Total Exit Pages section shows which page people left your site on. If there are a large number of people exiting on the homepage, then it could mean that either your homepage doesn't represent your site well enough, it is too uninteresting or the wrong type of traffic is coming to your site. There will always be a high number of people coming to your site by accident so don't expect this to ever get too low!
There are many more statistics available on the Webalizer pages, but these are the key entries that we would like to point out. |
